Teri Anderholm
Welcome!
I’m a Maine writer who dreamed of writing my memoir. My writing debut - Inn Mates ~ An Innkeeper’s Memoir - was published in 2024 and is going strong. A bestseller for Maine Author’s Publishing for the last two and a half years.
Inn Mates tells the true story of my husband, Jeffrey Anderholm, and me. Two corporate escapees with zero hospitality experience who in 2004 took a leap of faith in the middle of a mid-life crisis and bought a gorgeous wreck of an inn in Bar Harbor, Maine.
What could go wrong?
After saving the inn from the wrecking ball Jeff and I set off on a juggernaut neither of us could have fully imagined. Welcoming a colorful parade of guests. Learning that running an inn means being a therapist. A chef. A plumber. And a comedian - sometimes before breakfast!
Beneath the memoir is a comedic love story, between two partners and a place, between me and a version of myself I didn’t know I was becoming, and the thousands of guests we met along the way—all of this became the inspiration for Inn Mates.
I’m now working on my second book, The Concierge. A warm-hearted fictional take on the slow, strange intimacy of figuring out how a former innkeeper begins again. When her next chapter is a hospitality venue not unlike the inn she left behind, except that here, the guests are living the final chapters of their lives. The venue has changed. The calling has not.
Stay tuned…
“Inn Mates is a beautifully written account of the inn keeping life. Hilarious and heartbreaking. Full of wisdom, wit, and whimsy. The best memoir I’ve read in a very very long time.”
— Claudia Hunter Johnson, author of Stifled Laughter: One Woman’s Story About Fighting Censorship, winner of the 2023 Best Book Awards in the Current Events category, and Hurtling Toward Happiness: A Mother and Teenage Son’s Road Trip From Blues to Bonding in a Really Small Car
